Medical Secretary - Pathology
Position Summary:Under the general supervision of the Directory of Laboratory Services: provides operational support to maintain productive performance of the Clinical Laboratory. Contributes to the maintenance of policies, SOPs, MOPs, and special projects. Assists with quality and safety initiatives and data reporting. Under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Pathology: provides medical transcription for the Chair through the use of templates and editing programs, assists with IRB activities, functions as the WIRB liaison, and helps to support a Clinical Research ethics and compliance program. Responsible for achieving time-lines and associated deliverables driven by the Chair of Pathology which requires interdisciplinary collaboration with various departments/functions to achieve objectives.
Experience: 3-5 years hospital experience, transcription ability and knowledge of medical terminology required.
Education: High School or GED, or related experience required.
License and Credentials: IRB experience/Research experience preferred.
Required Skills:Excellent organizational, time-management, interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills; medical terminology; experience with hospital information systems; proficient with MS Office (WORD, ACCESS, EXCEL, PowerPoint); proficient with office technology (computer PCs, fax, copier, printers) and dictations systems such as M*Modal, Dragon, eScrip. Enjoys challenge of new projects and handles several priorities at once.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 80
