Point of Care Coordinator
Position Summary:Under the direction of the Core Lab Supervisor and Director of Laboratory Services, will perform the technical, maintenance , quality activities and update of policies, procedures, quality plan and practices within the POCT environment. May be required to perform same tasks as unit personnel. Assumes responsibility for all matters of POCT including the daily efficient operation, equipment and record keeping maintenance, adequate supply inventory, maintenance of budget limits, maintains good rapport with employees, physicians and management. Assists in coordinating the quality assurance program and training for POCT instrumentation and focus on the review and targeting of re-education measures and program for process improvement. Will be required to perform tasks as an MLT or MT /Generalist as needed and as scheduled. Part time supervision of a small group of employees. Most of the time, spent performing the same or similar work as the member of the group.
Required: 3 years as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), having POCT and general lab experience. Has met or surpassed CLIA requirements as an MLT or MT.
Required: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field, with formal medical laboratory training.
License and Credentials
Required: ASCP / ASMT eligible (certification preferred) or NCA/ HEW certification
Required: Excellent customer service skills. Math, verbal and written skills at college level. Computer literacy, especially use of Excel and Word.
Preferred: Experience with POCT data management systems and LIS preferred.
