Certified Medical Assistant (DSP) - Per Diem
Deborah Cardiovascular Group dba Deborah Specialty Physicians (DSP) seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to join our float pool on a Per Diem as needed basis: multiple locations (Ocean and/or Burlington County)
Position Summary: Position is responsible for both clinical and administrative functions. Assists physicians with patient care as well as handling patient scheduling, entering data and charges, and billing for services. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinical services.
May be required to float to another office location.
Experience Required: Triaging patient including taking of vital signs, reconciling patient medications, taking brief medical history of patient, performing electrocardiogram (EKG), connecting Holter monitor, assisting with stress nuclear studies, assisting with stress echo studies, and a working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems.
If a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA): Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant (MA) and or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office; or
If a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT): Three (3) years of experience employed as an MA performing both clinical and administrative duties; or
If a Graduate of a Formal Medical Services Training Program of the United States Armed Forces: Three (3) years of experience performing both clinical and administrative duties for a medical practice, and willing to secure RMA or CMA certification within one (1) year of hire; or
Work Experience: Been employed as an MA performing both clinical and administrative duties for a minimum of five (5) or the past seven (7) years, and willing to secure RMA or CMA certification.
Preferred: Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited program. Appropriate certification.
License and Credentials
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications or willing to secure both certifications within one month of hire.
Required: Effectively communicates with patients, physicians and co-workers.
Performs Medical Assistant tasks appropriately.
Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
