Position Summary:

Accountable for the following responsibilities for the Cardio Rehab department.

Responsible for the registration/admission of patients into the Meditech registration system. Generates accurate and complete patient records that will enable the Hospital to maximize reimbursement. Verifies the correct entry of information into the billing system including but not limited to insurance information, diagnostic coding, type of bill, status code, dates of service and provider number. Ensures that bills are system generated as soon as possible following visit. Ensure appointment and scheduling practices are followed properly and courteously. Recognizes barriers to admissions, respond appropriately and follow up on admissions variables. Work with other medical facilities to obtain patient information.

Schedule, greet, and escort patients and visitors to the appropriate areas of the clinic. Oversee incoming phone calls and clinic visitors to ensure accurate, timely, and positive communication, facilitation, and presentation. Create/maintain all aspects of patient charts (physical and electronic). Ensure department procedures and policies are updated. Electronically transcribe/scan patient information for clinicians in the Meditech system as needed. Obtains vital signs and other patient data collection, including but not limited to blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration. Observes and reports to clinicians patient signs/ symptoms and responses to sessions. Reports changes in the patient’s condition to the clinicians. Maintain adequate medical and office supplies for the department.

Assist in developing/maintaining a self-management education program using a multidisciplinary approach to promote healthy behavior change (ie, exercise adherence, smoking cessation, proper use of medications, an action plan for exacerbations, oxygen use). Help promote the benefits and value of pulmonary and cardio rehabilitation. Work collaboratively to ensure the health needs of the individual client/patient are met. Responsible for all performance improvement/quality assurance programs.

Experience

Required: One to three years in a clinical setting assisting with patient requirements. 5 years of office related duties.

Education

Required: Some college coursework, preferably in healthcare.

Preferred: Associate’s degree preferred

License and Credentials

Required: BLS Healthcare Provider Certification

Preferred: Basic EKG

Skills

Required: 

Basic knowledge of the oxygen manifold system in the M.O.B. Monitor the oxygen manifold system by keeping written and electronic records for all actions related to: safety, calibration, maintenance, tank replacement/refills, etc.

Word Processing, Basic Knowledge of Excel, Access, Power Point, outlook.

Able to successfully perform the physical/functional responsibilities.

Experienced with general medical terminology.

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work respectfully with diverse population.

Ability to successfully organize/prioritize multiple tasks while working with multiple patients simultaneously.

Works independently and relate to patients, clinicians, physicians, and other customers.

Measures and assesses patient vital signs, including but not limited to pulse, blood pressure.

Self-motivated with the willingness to exceed patient expectations.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

Stringent adherence to all HIPPA laws.

HOURS: 80 hours per pay period 

The minimum starting rate for this position is $18.20

When determining a team members base rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of recent relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
