Chair � Department of Surgery

Deborah Heart and Lung Center, a specialty hospital focused on cardiac, vascular, and pulmonary care, is seeking an experienced cardiac surgeon to lead our surgery department.  Deborah established the first cardiac surgery program in New Jersey in 1957 and has continued with a legacy of advanced cardiac surgery with superior quality patient outcomes.  We currently carry STS 3 star designation in four of five categories, in addition Deborah Heart and Lung Center is an alliance member of Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. . Deborah maintains a complex cardiac surgical caseload and has a robust destination LVAD program.

The successful candidate will have superior outcomes in advanced cardiac surgical procedures and possess heart failure experience.  They will demonstrate progressive medical administrative and leadership roles in a recognized cardiovascular program.  Experience with the adoption of evolving surgical technology, as well as quality and process improvement, is necessary.  Practice and program development skills are requisite for this role.  The Chair will drive institutional strategies and enhance regional referral sources.  Accomplishment in research, education, or other non-clinical domains is highly desired.

Working with their dyad partner, the Vice President of Surgical Services, the Chair will oversee all clinical, operational, and regulatory issues in the department, including perioperative care.  They, and other department chairs, will represent the institution�s medical leadership and report to the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.
