Position Summary:  This position is a full performance Pediatric and Adult Congenital Echocardiographic Sonographer with advanced knowledge of cardiac, physiology and disease.  All examinations are performed with standard protocols on pediatric, adolescent and adult congenital age groups. The Pediatric and Adult Congenital Echocardiographic Sonographer will operate all equipment to perform diagnostic echocardiograms.  Use correct parameters based on the patient�s age and diagnosis.  This includes 2D, Doppler and Color Doppler, and assisting the cardiologist with TEE Studies.   Measure all M-mode, 2D, Doppler, and Color Doppler flow patterns. Calculate measurements, formulas, and ratios.  Enter calculations and measurements into appropriate electronic reporting system example Syngo and Study Cast. Participates in off-site activities as scheduled. The Pediatric and Adult Congenital Echocardiographic Sonographer will travel twice per month to our clinical outreach location. Pediatric and Adult Congenital Echocardiographic Sonographer will work under general clinical supervision from pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists, and the department chair.

Experience

Required:

Preferred: 1 year recent relevant experience performing cardiac ultrasound preferred 

Education

Required:

Preferred:  High School/GED. Graduate of approved Allied Health program preferred

License and Credentials

Required:  Registry or registry-eligible in ARMDS Pediatric Cardiology Echosonographer within 6 months of hire, Cardiac Ultrasound RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with RDMS (Registered  Diagnostic  Medical Sonographer) or RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) with CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).   BLS Certified.

Required:

Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and disease

Ability to operate ultrasound equipment utilizing a variety of possible techniques, including M-mode,

Two-dimensional, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler flowing mapping, and 2D speckle tracking strain imaging.\

Ability to perform examinations, recognizing the significance of all structures that are visualized, differentiating artifacts from appropriate images, while recognizing the limitations of equipment and utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Ability to perform echo sonography studies including adult congenital complex studies, stress echocardiography, dobutamine echocardiography for adult congenital patients, and periprocedural transesophageal echocardiography on adult congenital patients.

Demonstrate flexibility performing tests/scans in a variety of clinical environments.

Ability to educate patients and families of safe and appropriate testing; thoroughly explaining procedures, answering questions and calming concerns.

Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.

Ability to use and apply clinical research findings to identify various intervention techniques or procedures that may need modification

Ability to work both independently and as a care team member.

Hours: Full-time 80 hours per pay period
